David G. Allen

I am pleased to announce that at the March 18th CSPRA Board of Directors meeting, David G. Allen was selected as the  CSPRA Honorary Ranger for 2020.

The award will be presented at the CSPRA Annual Conference on September 16th in Truckee at Donner Memorial State Park.

Mr. Allen was nominated by 7 long-time CSPRA members and unanimously selected by the Board for his decades of statewide volunteer efforts and support of California State Parks and California history.  Mr. Allen has been an involved and active member of the Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) for the past 29 years and served a Grand President in 2011 and 2012  He also served as Chairman of the Historic Preservation Foundation from 2001 to 2004 and from 2012 to present.

Currently, under his direction, the Historic Preservation Foundation is undertaking a million-dollar effort in partnership with the Sierra State Parks Foundation and California State Parks to rehabilitate the Pioneer Monument and construct an outdoor interpretive/educational pavilion at Donner Memorial State Park.

Through his work with the NSGW he has been instrumental in providing matching funds for replacement of California Registered Landmark plaques in State Park Units throughout the State.  Additionally his group has provided funding and support to the Sierra State Park Association, Valley of the Moon Association, Friends of Sutter’s Fort, Gold Discovery Park Association as well as Auburn State Recreation Area to name a few.

Mr. Allen is an individual of distinguished service who has demonstrated extraordinary devotion to the objectives and support for the goals of the California State Park Rangers Association, California State Parks, and the Ranger profession on local, regional, and statewide levels.  He epitomizes the ideals and dedication of the park ranger and has earned this recognition for his years of service and devotion to California State Parks.

I hope you can all join us in Truckee on the 16th of September for presentation of the this much deserved award.
